Abstract

|
Drug-induced kidney injury is one of the common causes of community- or hospital-acquired kidney injury as well as the adverse effects of drugs. Drugs¡¯ innate kidney toxicity, patients having multiple risk factors of being friable to kidney injuries, and the kidney itself being susceptible to nephrotoxic agents affect drug-induced kidney injuries. Various types of kidney injuries are able to be presented according to the injury mechanisms. In addition, some medications may damage kidneys by multiple shapes including acute kidney injuries, glomerular diseases, and tubulopathies. Drug-induced kidney injuries may be harmful but preventable. Knowing the pathogenesis and risk factor for drug-induced kidney injuries may be helpful to reduce iatrogenic morbidities and patient outcomes.
